Welcome to my design and communication studio. You can read a thing or two about my competencies and please feel free to have a closer look at my wall.

DESIGN & COMMUNICATION

When faced with a communication task it’s easy to get caught up in design elements and other interactive gimmicks. I like to say that when you’ve done something right, it should be made in such a way, that people wont even notice that you’ve done anything at all – don’t make me think – that’s usability applied to web design.

Some graphic designers go as far as to equate design with the communication in its self, which is like comparing an instrument with an entire orchestra. Design elements need to interact with the rest of the communication channels and that’s best achieved by possessing a throughout understanding of the context of communication. If you’re looking for concepts like “intern and extern communication”, “segmentation”, “strategic action plan”, etc. Congratulations:

- you’ve got yourself a zebra on target.

CORPORATE IDENTITY

“Corporate Identity” is better defined by the auto-communication theory. In which “identity” is understood as a result of the conversation a business is maintaining with its own “image”. A business can express its “culture” in its advertising material and through its core values, but the business’ “image” is the answer it finds reflected from the outside world.

"Corporate Branding presupposes a professionally designed visual identity, but it’s more profoundly a battle of values. A strong Brand is crafted when a business succeeds in proactively defining that identity, the business later finds reflected in its image.

WEBSITES, CMS & WEBSHOPS

I hand coded my first website with html, css and php. Added a simple jQuery slider and made it work with a MySQL database allowing the costumer to update her products. Since then I’ve only become more proficient, if you need a simple website, it’s still faster and cheaper to code in from scratch.

CMS stands for Content Management System and you can find a wide variety of open source solutions. I’m fond of Wordpress, as it doesn’t get much easer for the costumer to update. You might have seen a template you would like customized? Otherwise tell me about your preferences and we’ll find a solution that fits your needs.

Do you need a webshop? I recommend Prestashop, awarded as the best open source system for ecommerce. Magento is another viable solution, though it’s more of a resource hug and more expensive to develop as well. The best solution once again depends on your needs.

VISUAL IDENTITY

Logos, business cards, letterheads/invoices, folders and catalogues etc. – all types of design for the printed media.

COPYWRITING

Press releases, newsmagazines, content for catalogues, blogs or manuals. I also do translations between Danish, Spanish and English.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, the Art of getting good ranking at Google. It’s an art form because Google is a bit reticent about and often changes it parameters of indexation (Ex. The Panda and Penguin updates). If you get too creative and make shortcuts Google just might completely block out your website from its search results. That is why, as in the case of any art form, SEO takes hard and dedicated work to fully master.

There exists innumerable ways to achieve better ranking. The two principals being finding the right keywords with less competition and obtaining links from other websites that Google consider prestigious or otherwise reliable. With the right strategy I recently achieved to position the tractor dealership “alonsodonbenito.com” as the first result, at a national level in Spain, when people search for a tractor workshop for their Fendt tractor.
