Junior Art Class: Lionheart LEARN!
Lionheart LEARN! will focus on building the fundamental classical knowledge of art where the children's interest, creativity and learning are further enhanced. The theoretical and practical knowledge will enable the children to develop planning and solving skills creatively, as well as nurture technical art skills hence boosting their confidence and other interrelated areas in character building.
Starting from the 1st lesson, we will have different variety of mediums being taught by our instructors from: Pencils, crayons, watercolor, acrylic etc weekly. Lessons will have an intrinsic and holistic teaching to cultivate their character building as well as to increase their artistic skills in the 3 areas; Effective, Cognitive and Expressive realms.
Syllabus & Outline
This programme of study covers the following:
X 2 Basic Sketching & Drawing (Graphite Pencils) - Students will learn basics of the most ancient form of art in drawing and shading with pencils and graphite materials. They will learn how to draw with confidence, learn proper line and drawing techniques and finish off with a shaded piece of art that showcases basic light and shadow.
X 2 Light & Shadows (Charcoal) – Students will be exposed to light and shadows in everything they see, how to identify values with the usage of charcoal pencils and sticks. They will then create a simple still life drawing with five values at the end.
X 2 Basic Color Theory (Watercolor) - Students will learn basics of watercolor medium color theory; how colors are considered warm or cool, and how to maximize the effect using simple complementary color scheme with the color wheel. Students will finish by painting a simple floral scene.
X 2 Composition & Flow (Watercolor) - Students will learn about Composition, a crucial element in artmaking. They will learn how to beautifully arrange elements in a 2d space, and finish off with a environment painting that demonstrates composition, basic perspective and color theory.
X 2 Texture & Concept (Acrylic) - Students will learn about textures and how to create them with the power of acrylic medium. Learn how to create thick wet on wet techniques, impasto and more to create Contemporary art-inspired pieces with vibrant colors. Learn to create a cute and beautiful forest scene inspired by animation movies and games.
X 1 Creative Craft and 3D forms (Crafts and mixed medium) - Students will learn about art and craft in a unique and exciting way combining all the theories and practical they have learnt before. They will create interesting artworks that ‘pops’, that have 3D elements that mimics installation art, and have fun glueing, painting, pasting different parts together to create surprise crafts to bring home.
X 1 Translation of Ideas (Pens and mixed medium) - Students will learn how to apply observational skills to creative output with the last class that focuses on manga and caricature with pens on mugs. This will allow them to further augment their creativity with confidence as they will draft the faces before penning it permanently on the mugs provided. Students will bring home their artworks on practical forms like the mugs which can be used or decorate their own space.
Learning and Teaching
This module will be delivered through a combination of modes of delivery. It will be a 10 days /20 hours total workshop with lecture notes, and live demo with students interacting and practicing at the same time. Students will have a chance to learn first hand from the instructor, as well as to answer their any queries and doubts. A framework that encourages mutual student support will be developed for self-discussion and exchange of tips among themselves.
The knowledge presented allows students to create artwork that is closer to their vision, as well as developing a finer sense of appreciation for arts and culture. In line with and supporting NAC vision, we also strive to inculcate precious and holilstic values like patiences, endurance, creativity, encouraged learning, self awareness and more. In this way, students are also exposed to the creative challenge of drawing directly and improving themselves immediately from the lesson with the instructor’s help.Students will leave the course confidently with the knowledge and hands-on of several drawing processes, and will be able to create their own as a way to cultivate their artistic talent and inner self.
