Digital Art: Creating an Illustration
This module empower students who have average drawing skills, photoshop/digital imaging software etc knowledge, to embark on a course that will be rewarding them several important core skills of creating illustrations- specifically for industry and portfolio standards.
Story and Concept development stage - Students are taught using 5 values to create thumbnails and concepts which we can further develop into a full fledged illustration. We shall go through the fundamentals of Golden Ratio, rule of thirds and other related theories, and apply them into our idea development.
Illustration Basics– Students will attempt to create a sample book cover image where composition and narrative is key. Elements of the story will be distilled into a single image. In this class, a picture tells a thousand words.
(8 Hours) Final Illustration Assignment - In this final module, we will explore different themes and objectives for different students, and students will use all they have learned in the course, to create a ultimate illustration within the time frame. Students have to remember the topics taught and apply it to their given “scenario” such as composition, thumbnail planning, color schemes, focal point and values distribution as well as mood.
Interest in arts, gaming, animation and character design.
Basic drawing skill is recommended. Digital Imaging skill is recommended.
