Coloring & Painting Styles: From Amateur to Master


This course will show you how to manage, edit and correct colors, at the same time covers on the different styles of coloring techniques, allowing you to find the most suitable way to do digital painting. We would be looking at concepts such as the color wheel, color harmonies and color temperature, giving you an idea on how these would affect the mood of your painting. As for the coloring techniques, we would be showing some of the ways artists finish their paintings, which from that you would be able to find the most suitable painting method you prefer.

Course Objectives:​​

  • Participants will learn the basic ideas of color theory.

  • Participants will learn how to use tools like levels, curves and white balance to adjust their work.

  • Participants will learn how to use colors to create different atmosphere.

  • Participants will learn the different styles of digital painting.

  • Participants will be able to create compelling concept art with decent colors.

  • Participants will be able to apply the following concepts for digital art making.

  • Color wheel and color relationships

  • Managing color swatches

  • Additive and subtractive color

  • Saturation and desaturation

  • Color modes and color correction

  • Adjustment tools: levels, curves and white balance

  • Auto color adjustments

  • Understanding color statements

  • Storytelling with colors

  • Painting styles: grayscale, traditional or lined art

  • Final polish
